John Smith begins the enrollment process at school or the district office.
The SIS sends a message indicating the addition of John. This message is translated by a SIF Agent from the native SIS language to SIF XML and is received by the Zone Integration Server (ZIS).
The ZIS transmits the message to all applications that are configured to receive that message. These messages are translated by each SIF Agent into the native language for each application.
With the new data transmitted to the appropriate applications in near real time, services may now be provided to student John, that same day. Teachers, administrators, and staff may update data in each application.
Applications send messages concerning these changes back to the ZIS, but the ZIS will only send changes to applications configured to receive them.
